
What
is the VIP?
The Volunteers Integration Program (VIP) is a summer practical
learning and exposure program of the Center for People Empowerment
in Governance or CenPEG on governance work and people empowerment
at the grassroots level.
It
is open to students and other interested groups like professionals
and government local leaders who wish to contribute their time
for and learn the experience of governance from policy study,
program setting, direct engagement and public administration from
the barangay to the national level.
It
coordinates and designs its projects and activities with the participants
from schools, institutions and other organizations with their
counterpart programs based on common needs and goals.
What
is the general objective?
To raise the participants’ level of awareness and involvement
in governance matters, especially with concerns relating to empowering
people at the grassroots through research, policy study, advocacy,
legislative and other interventions.
What
are the desired results and outputs?
Young and involved citizens who become exposed to actual conditions
of governance work and trained in basic leadership skills.
Popular
media production of studies and research on issues of governance
which can be translated to learning modules for people empowerment.
